We have only one precious hour to explore the slums of Freeside on the outskirts of New Vegas at QuakeCon 2010. Will we make it out alive? QuakeCon 2010 is underway, and as it turns out, id Software’s parent company Zenimax Media is showing new games from another subsidiary, Bethesda Softworks…including Fallout: New Vegas, the next chapter in the Fallout series from Obsidian Entertainment (a studio that includes several of the designers behind the original Fallout games of the late 1990s).

Fan favourites Yoda and Boba Fett make their debut in this Force-powered sequel from LucasArts. While we’ve already seen that Darth Vader will be making his return in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, it turns out that Jedi clone Starkiller has a lot more to deal with than just the dark lord himself. LucasArts is bringing some of most beloved characters from Star Wars to the Force Unleashed universe, creating a sprawling narrative that aims to please fans and newcomers alike.

Comic-Con 2010: LucasArts shows off extended demo of upcoming game, reveals early plot spoilers and teaser clip featuring infamous bounty hunter. Who was there: LucasArts executive producer Haden Blackman took the podium, while a fellow Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II development team member took the controls of the demo. What they talked about: Blackman discussed the game mechanics at length during an extended version of the demo they showed during GameSpot’s live E3 stage show.

We entered the Mojave wasteland for a new look at Obsidian’s post-apocalyptic RPG. Talking to the team behind Fallout: New Vegas, it seems that it will have more in common with the first two games in the series, rather than 2008′s Fallout 3.

The series makes its way back to its West Coast roots in Obsidian’s upcoming postapocalyptic role-playing game. There will definitely be gambling in Fallout: New Vegas. Whether or not the other wonders of Las Vegas–like buffets–will be included remains to be seen, but for now, we were assured that once you make your way to the strip, there will be a variety of ways to give up your hard-earned cash
